Detroit Build is using reclaimed wood from homes torn down in Detroit: Our client Kelly, wanted the contemporary look of a loft style sliding door for the entrance of her new master bedroom, but she also wanted to bring in a rustic flair. We introduced her to “Reclaim Detroit”. A Detroit Based company that deconstructs dilapidated homes in inner-city Detroit and separates the materials (doors, planks, windows, etc) and offers them to the public for purchase at their facility on Oakman Blvd. in Detroit. We accompanied her to their facility and helped her choose out some 1x6 rough cut pine to use to create her new door. We delivered the materials, purchased the hardware, put it together, stained the door and this is what we ended up with!
